2009-09-19 Lynn Canyon Park |
From Hilde
I'm having a fieldtrip on September 19th Saturday at 10AM to Lynn Canyon Park in NorthVancouver. If it is pouring rain the trip is cancelled otherwise we will meet in the parking lot there. A few sprinkles should be ok. Take the Lynn Valley Road exit from the highway and turn right onto Lynn Valley Road then carry on till you reach Peters Road. Turn right there and the entrance to the park is at the end of Peters Road. I though it might be fun to make this trip a challenge and try to think sideways when photographing. Break the rules with abandon. For ex. camera shake. Jump up and down while pressing the shutter. Put the camera on timer and swing it over your head. Run towards the object while pressing the shutter etc. Over and under expose with recklessness. Most people have digital so film is not a concern. Take tons of photos. Take selective focus with main subject out of focus for a change. Any other ideas are welcome. Please reply to me if you are coming.

2009-07-18 West Coast Railway Heritage Park (WCRHP) |
At the June meeting I asked if there was interest in visiting the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish, and enough people indicated they were. So I'm proposing the following 'field trip'.
Saturday July 18th. Car/ride sharers to meet up at Park Royal at 9:30am Aim to arrive at the WCRHP at 10:30-ish. Leaving no later than 3:00pm.
Entrance fee to the WCRHP is $10 adults $8.50 seniors/students $32 Family (5)
I can offer 1 spare seat with ample space for photo gear too.
I'm aiming to picnic there...they have a covered area available. A concession is available for burgers/sandwiches/coffee. But since my previous (2007) visit, significant developments have been made to the park and more extensive facilities may be available.
For more information on the WCRHP, here is their website http://www.wcra.org/
